After a termination letter was sent to traffic warden Anita Lobo, additional commissioner of police (traffic) Brijesh Singh clarified that the letter was an error as it was sent by a junior officer without consent.

In January, Lobo was involved in a controversy after Congress MP Nilesh Rane filed a complaint against her for allegedly misbehaving with him when she stopped his convoy in Khar as it blocked traffic in the area.

Clarifying the issue, Singh said: “The termination letter was sent by an inspector who is not authorised to do so. It’s termed illegal and does not have any effect. Lobo was reinstated immediately after it came to our notice on Monday.”

After the termination came to light, Nilesh Rane, son of the state minister for industries, Narayan Rane, said through a letter to a residents’ association that he had no link with the termination.

“I have nothing to do with this because I had forgotten about the matter as soon as it got over. I would not mind even if she resumes her duty,” Rane said in the letter.
