Counsel for Sheetal Mafatlal on Monday told the Bombay high court (HC) that the process of mediation regarding the disputes between industrialist Atulya Mafatlal and his wife Sheetal was still on, though in its final stages.

Parvez Memon, representing Sheetal, was countering the claim of some of the Mafatlal family members that the mediation had failed. “It is in its final stage and we are positive we will reach an amicable solution.”

However, he admitted that the other family members involved had pulled out of the process.

Sheetal has filed a complaint against Atulya, Aparna, Madhuri, Marushka, Kunti Shah and Gayatri Jhaveri levelling allegations of dowry related harassment in the matrimonial home. She has also filed complaint against all family members under provisions of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.

On April 2, advocate Ranjit Pawar, who represents Atulya’s brother Ajay, mother Madhuri and their married sisters, had told the division bench of justice VM Kanade and justice PD Kode that mediation had failed.
