On the first day of the drive - Tuesday - 94-power theft cases were found. Mahavitaran has seized meters of these consumers and lodged a complaint against them at the Bazaarpeth police station.
Bholaji Patil, chief engineer, Mahavitaran, Kalyan division, said, "There is around 18% power loss due to power thefts. To find the source of these thefts and bring them down, we have started this drive."
"Our employees listed consumers whose monthly power bills showed only 0 to 30 units of consumption. We found 94 households who have taken direct connection from electric poles," he added.
To make the drive successful, Patil has requested citizens to inform them about power thefts in their areas.
"Cash prizes will be given to those who provide correct information," Patil said.
