The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed that Union of India and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar be made parties to the PIL filed by Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai regarding levy of entertainment tax on IPL.

The court also allowed the petitioner to make Pawar a party to the case since there are some allegation against him in the petition.

The PIL demands that Maharashtra government should recover entertainment tax from the organisers of IPL.

The petition also alleges that the state government, in January this year, decided to levy the entertainment tax on IPL but the decision was not implemented.

The court adjourned the hearing till June 22.
