The juvenile court, on Tuesday, ordered the two minors, accused of murdering 64-year-old Sarla Patel in Malad, to undergo regular psychological counselling at the children's home in Dongri. The duo was released by the court on bail last Friday.
The two minors were arrested on September 19, two days after Patel was found murdered at her residence. The court, on Tuesday, remanded them in judicial custody for a day. As per the order, the court released the minors on the condition that they would report to the probation officer daily. The two 17-year-olds have also been asked to attend counselling sessions every alternate day. SA Jadhav, superintendent, Dongri Children's Shelter, confirmed that the two accused would be brought to Dongri for counselling.
According to the police, the duo had planned the murder for over a month and allegedly killed Patel because they needed money to buy a bike.
The police said that one of the accused, also Patel's grandson, conspired with his childhood friend to kill his grandmother as she possessed lot of cash and ornaments. He had assumed that his grandmother would be a "soft target".
The police had recovered cash and valuables worth Rs 5.14 lakh from them.
