The mother and two sisters of the main accused booked for abduction and subsequent death of a 14-year-old girl from Malwani were arrested on Thursday on charges of kidnapping and wrongful confinement.
The girl went missing in May and was discovered in the last week of October, in a frail condition. She died while undergoing treatment. Police claim the girl eloped with the accused, a minor himself. “She was unwell for the past few months, and the accused admitted her to a private hospital. The girl was very happy with the boy’s family,” said an officer from the Malwani police station. “However, since she was a minor, we have to take action against the boy and his family.”
Meanwhile, the preliminary post-mortem report of the girl states that she was malnourished and had jaundice and tuberculosis, which could have led to her death.
Medical reports remotely suggest that the girl was fed on mud, sand, stones or clothes. The viscera has been sent to the forensic lab to verify if there was any other cause of death.
