A 24-year-old man was arrested by the DN Nagar police on Monday for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and forcing her into prostitution.
The police said the girl lives in a chawl in the Juhu galli area of Vile Parle (West) with her parents. On March 21, the four accused, kidnapped her near her residence in an autorickshaw and took her to a room at Marve Road, Malad (West).
The girl, in her statement to the police, said she did not suspect anything amiss as the accused were known to her. When the girl’s father could not find her, he approached the DN Nagar police station on March 22 and registered a missing person’s complaint.
The place where the victim was taken is owned by two of the accused, identified as Imran Warsi and his wife Alvira. After the victim got physically involved with the client, she was abandoned near her aunt’s residence in Malwani and brought back home.
“The victim kept quiet initially, but later confided in her parents, following which her father approached the police station. A case of kidnapping under sections 363 and 366A of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act was registered on Monday night,” said Vijay Bhoite, senior police inspector, DN Nagar police station.
