The MIDC police arrested a man for allegedly murdering his partner.
Police found the body of Shalu Sameer Yadav alias Kamna Chaudhary (35), in her rented flat on Saturday.
The police claimed Samar Yadav (30) was upset with Yadav, a waitress with Royal Restaurant and Bar, for catering to other clients.
The police said Shalu and Samar lived at her house in Suprabhat society on Mahakali Caves Road in Andheri (E) since six years.
Samar, whose wife and four children reside in Uttar Pradesh, demanded money from Shalu, who was also married with children.
Her family is in Kolkata.
Samar worked at a garment factory in Marol. “They would fight regularly as Samar would demand money for liquor. The fact that Kamna would receive regular calls from her clients, did not go down well with him,” said Inspector B. Gurav.
“On Tuesday, they fought in an inebriated condition, after which Samar banged her head against the wall. She succumbed to internal injuries.”
Samar approached police on Saturday, claiming Shalu wasn’t opening the door to their house. After interrogation, Samar admitted to have murdered her in a fit of rage.
P. Suryavanshi, senior police inspector, said: “We have registered an offence under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against Samar.”
