The Sahar police detained a 29-year-old man after the airport authorities found pictures of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and 26/11 terror attacks accused Ajmal Kasab on his mobile phone.

The man has been identified as Shafi Khan Ahmed who is originally from Bihar.

Ahmed was to board an Air India flight for Jeddah on Saturday.

He forgot his mobile phone at the security checking counter before he proceeded to board the flight.

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer found Ahmed’s phone and scanned through it to get a number where he could inform the owner.

While doing so, he found images of Dawood Ibrahim, Kasab and several politicians stored in the phone.

A police official said that on realising that he had forgotten his mobile phone, Ahmed rushed back to the counter where he was apprehended and handed over to the Sahar police.

Senior police inspector, Dilip Patil, from Sahar police station said: “Ahmed told us that he did not know the consequences of having such images on the mobile phone. He had downloaded those images unintentionally”

Zonal deputy commissioner of police Satyanarayan Choudhary said: “The man admitted that he had unintentionally downloaded the images on his mobile phone.”

“We have not registered any case against Ahmed, as there is no evidence against him,” he added.
