A 30-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl. The accused, Pandya Ramlingh was absconding for the last one week.
The Dongri police registered a case against Ramlingh on February 19, after the victim’s father approached the police.
The accused was allegedly in a live-in relationship with the victim’s mother. Ramlingh was staying with the victim’s family at Wadibunder in Dongri for the last two years after the girl’s mother divorced her husband.
A few days back, the victim went to visit her father. The girl reportedly told her father that Ramlingh had been raping her every time her mother was away.
Deputy commissioner of police, (Zone 1), Cherring Dorje said the Dongri police received a tip-off that Ramlingh had been hiding at Matunga.
“The local court remanded him to police custody till March 5. He was preparing to leave the city,” said Dorje.
