Minor raped in Mumbai

A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor who had come to Mumbai on Sunday. According to the police, the 14-year-old minor had come to Dadar station on Sunday evening and was walking on the bridge adjoining the station.

“The 30-year-old accused Hemant Surati met the minor on the bridge and as she was new to the city, offered to help her. He convinced her to go to Naigaon with him,” said an officer from Bhoiwada police station, who did not wished to be named.

According to the police, a few people in Naigaon saw the man accompanying the minor and informed the police. The case was initially registered with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and was later transferred to the Bhoiwada police.

The man has been charged under sections 366 A, 376 (1), 376 (2i) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 4 and 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
