The watchman of an under-construction building in Vile Parle (East) was found murdered on the building’s second floor on Wednesday. The murder took place after he refused to allow one of the three accused from sleeping on the premises, said the police.

The watchman, Sunny Bhagat (25), was working at an under construction SRA building Durga Kutir in Shivaji Nagar.
The police have arrested Gyaan Prakash Pathak. His brothers Om Prakash and Rajesh Kumar, who assisted him in the crime, are absconding.

Around 6 am on Monday when the workers started coming in for work they reportedly found the body on the building premises and informed the police. Bhagat had been hit on the head with a heavy object, the police said. His body was rushed to Cooper Hospital. The police found that Gyaan and his associates had been involved in frequent tiffs with Bhagat as he did not allow them to sleep inside the premises at night.

“There were frequent quarrels between the trio and Bhagat and so we suspected their involvement. We arrested Gyaan,” said Sub Inspector Dinkar Raut. Gyaan told the police that on Tuesday night he went near the building and was not allowed to sleep there. He returned with his associates and killed Bhagat.
