The Bhandup police on Sunday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly attempting to kill a 15-year-old boy on Saturday evening in Bhandup.
Kamble, a Class 10, student from the area, managed to escape the accused, Subhash Tondalkar, who allegedly tried to smash his head with a stone.
An officer from the Bhandup police station said Kamble had met Tondalkar, a resident of the same locality, about a month ago. Tondalkar found that Kamble had an interest in collecting old coins. He told Kamble that he knew someone who shared his passion. And since he has a large collection of rare old coins, Kamble would be paid Rs 1,000 for each coin.
The accused told the victim that his friend would meet them near Hanuman Nagar on Saturday at 8pm.
A neighbour from the victim’s locality said, “On their way, Tondalkar told Kamble they should sit for a while. Suddenly, he picked up a stone and hit Kamble's head. In spite of the injury, Kamble kicked Tondalkar and ran.”.
The neighbours said Tondalkar accompanied them to Rathod Nursing Home in Bhandup and the police station. When Kamble regained consciousness, he recounted the story.
