A 35-year-old man allegedly strangulated his wife to death on suspecting her of continuing her relationship with her former husband. Twenty-five-year-old Laxmi Soni's body was found at her Mankhurd residence by her father on Tuesday morning. The Mankhurd police have registered a case of murder against Laxmi’s husband Manoj Soni, who has absconded.

Laxmi and Manoj were residing with Laxmi's parents since their marriage. Senior inspector SS Rajput from Mankhurd police station said, "Manoj suspected that Laxmi was having a relationship with her first husband, Kayoom Abdul Shaikh, whom she had left a few years ago to marry him. The couple fought frequently over this and even on Monday night, they had a fight on the same issue."

Mankhurd police are on the lookout for Manoj, who hails from Uttar Pradesh and is an auto-rickshaw driver by profession.
