The Mankhurd police are on the lookout for 35-year-old Vikram Soni, who allegedly strangulated his wife to death on Monday night at their Mankhurd residence. Soni, a rickshaw driver by profession, suspected his wife Laxmi of maintaining a relationship with her former husband. The police have now sent a team to Uttar Pradesh from where Soni hails, suspecting he may be holed up there.

"On interrogating his friends, we found that Soni has several relatives in Uttar Pradesh and have sent a team there to track him down," said an officer from Mankhurd police, requesting anonymity.

SS Rajput, senior inspector with Mankhurd police station said, "We have searched at several places in the city where we suspected Soni could be hiding. We are working on some leads and hope to nab him soon."

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning around 9am, when Laxmi's parents returned to their Ambedkar Nagar tenement in Mankhurd and discovered their daughter’s body.

Soni has been missing since the murder came to light. The Mankhurd police have registered a case of murder against Soni who married Laxmi four years ago, after she left her first husband.
