A Marathi film based on the life of a policeman, who witnesses the 26/11 attacks, will release on Friday, on the eve of the third anniversary of the Mumbai terror attacks.
Titled “Hello Jai Hind,” the film has noted art director Nitin Desai debuting as an actor and music by Ilayaraja, who is composing for a Marathi film for the first time. “It is about life of the family of a policeman and how the city recovered from the attacks,” said Gajendra Ahire, director of the film. “It is also about how we continue to live in fear of terror attacks.”
The film is a fictional account of the lives of Daya, a homemaker and Shivaji Pawar, a police constable on the backdrop of Mumbai attacks. Despite surviving the attacks Pawar, loses his spirit and later takes an extraordinary step.
“Apart from the backdrop of the attack, events in the film are fictional,” said Ahire, who has made national award winning films such as Not only Mrs Raut and Shevri.
About selecting Nitin Desai for the role of the protagonist, he said, “I wanted to cast an actor who does not have any tags or image. Nitin Desai’s personality fits the character very well.”
