Men plan a vacation in advance to take advantage of discounted deals. On the other hand, few women plan their holidays and instead choose more expensive travel itineraries, claims a survey.
Travel portal Skyscanner surveyed 1,000 frequent vacationers from both genders to describe their choice of holidays.
While 67% male travellers said they booked holidays in advance to get the best price, cost was not a primary concern for women - 55% said they prefer luxurious trips such as spa and wellness resorts.
In fact, 51% male travellers said they invest time scouting for the most cost-effective destination. Women were not asked this question as a majority said they did not plan their holidays.
"In addition to the contrast between travel habits of men and women, the survey also found that only 6% people chose savings over holidays, which showed that holidays are important for many people," said Kavitha Gnanamurthy, market development manager, Skyscanner, India.
The survey also found that a majority of women (88%) spend their holidays shopping while the favourite activity for men was exploring the nightlife.
Beaches were the most popular destinations.
Despite being budget conscious, few Indian men approved of backpacking trips.
