The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has rapped the Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd for delaying in informing them about the accident on July 7 in which a worker lost his life.

MMRDA officials were caught napping, as none of them was aware of the accident that had occurred early that morning.

The officials came to know about the incident only after reporters informed them about the mishap late in the night.

“We have taken a very serious note of this inept handling of the mishap by MMOPL and have sent them a written warning that such incidents should be immediately reported to our concerned officials,” Metropolitan commissioner Rahul Asthana said.

The incident took place after a labourer working on the Andheri stretch of the Metro line lost his balance and fell from a height at the construction site.

There has been a spate of accidents at infrastructure sites in the last one month in which three people have lost their lives.
