The Opposition created ruckus in the Assembly on Thursday accusing the minister of state for urban development, Bhaskar Jadhav, of tampering with the House proceedings referring to the government’s assurance of initiating an inquiry into the alleged irregularities committed by the Thane municipal commissioner.
The Opposition members had on Tuesday claimed that RA Rajiv had termed his foreign trip with family an official tour. He was allegedly involved in several other irregularities, including spending Rs3 crore without the local body’s permission, they claimed. Jadhav had then announced an inquiry into the alleged irregularities. However, when the House records were checked on Thursday, the record of the “inquiry against Rajiv” was missing.
Raising the issue, Opposition leader Eknath Khadse and Sena member Subhash Desai, said that Jadhav, who was protecting the municipal commissioner, deliberately deleted it from the records. He also demanded that the video recording of the House proceedings be shown again.
Refuting the allegations, Jadhav said that he was ready for an inquiry.
The Opposition members stormed into the well and shouted slogans against Jadhav, which led to the adjournment of the Assembly for 15 minutes.
When the house re-assembled, deputy speaker Vasant Purke said that an inquiry would be conducted into the matter and the findings would be tabled in the house on Friday, the last day of the winter session.
