Khan had gone out to play and then went missing. His father Lal Mhaommed Khan searched frantically for him but could not find him. He then lodged a missing complaint with the police.

“On Friday, we got a call from the locals of the Pandurangwadi area about a body. When we reached the spot, we found that the boy’s head had been smashed and the body dumped on the roadside. We also found Rs 10 note near his hand,” said Bhoir.

The police have registered a case of murder against unidentified men. “We do not suspect that the boy was kidnapped for ransom as his parents are poor. Moreover, the parents did not get any call for ransom,” said Bhoir.

The police have sent the body for post mortem report.
