MMRDA sanctions 200 crore for link road, bridge in Dombivli

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has sanctioned Rs. 200 crore for the construction of a bridge on a creek at Mothagoan in Thakurli and a 2.7-km road to link the city to the national highway-3.

The engineering team of the MMRDA visited the spot at Thakurli on Wednesday.

Sunil Deshmukh, executive engineer, MMRDA, said, “MP Anand Paranjape has been following up on the issue with the MMRDA since 2008. The maps for the project are ready.”

MP Anand Paranjape said, “We have been in touch with the state and the Centre for quite some time. The project will make life easy for people from the region. The link road will cut down the distance between the city and NH-3 by at least 20km.”

“Chief minister Prithivraj Chavan and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar too helped in getting the project started. We plan to start the work in the

next few months,” said Paranjape.

The authority plans to use suspension technology to construct the bridge.

Under the system, the pillars would be built only on the two ends of the creek, without any construction in the creek.
