After Nana Chudasama said he will not be intimidated by threats, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) approached the civic body calling the banners the former sheriff puts up outside his office illegal and in contempt of a high court order.

The move is being seen as a reply to the open letter written by BJP spokesperson and Chudasama’s daughter Shaina NC in Hindustan Times on Friday. In her letter Shaina said, “Am I not an equally proud Mumbaikar? Is Nana Chudasama not a Mumbaikar? Has there been any kind of government order or a court ruling that Mumbaikars can only be those having Marathi surnames?”

In his letter to the civic chief, Santosh Dhuri from MNS said, “The illegal banner should be immediately removed as it is against high court order. The civic body should also inquire against the official in A-ward, who has failed to take action so far.”

He claimed the banner had “hurt sentiments of the Marathi manoos”.
