Sahil Malik (28), arrested in connection with the murder of actor and model Rinky Chowdhury has been remanded to another two days of police custody until November 10.

Malik was arrested on October 30.

Surendra Paithankar, senior inspector of Goregaon police station said, “Malik has not yet confessed to the crime and still says that Chowdhury committed suicide.”

The police are trying to trace Chowdhury and Malik's common friend Shivendu Shekhar who has gone missing since October 28, the day when Chowdhury was found dead in her flat at Vallabh apartment in Goregaon west. Though, Malik who was present in the flat when the incident took place told the police that Chowdhury was found hanging, the medical examination of the body suggested that she was murdered.

Shekhar, who was tracked down to Rajasthan, has switched off his mobile phone and is untraceable.

The medical report suggested that Chowdhury had sustained internal head injuries and had been strangulated. Based on the medical report a murder case was registered and Malik was arrested.

Last week, the Goregaon police recorded the statement of Delhi-based model Shamli Jain, who was Malik’s girlfriend. Malik had earlier told the police that Jain had been harassing her against marrying him. Jain in her statement told the police that her interaction with Chowdhury was professional and that Malik was trying to drag her into the case.
