Most young travellers surveyed for their choice of holiday experience said that they preferred vacationing with friends of the same gender.

Of the 1,000 people between the age group of 18 and 30, who participated in the survey by travel portal Makemytrip, 38% women travellers said that they chose all-girls trips to holidaying with a mixed group of friends. The survey also found that 14% young male respondents preferred similar kind of vacations.

The trend reflected the difference in the choice of destinations between men and women. More than 51% men travellers, for instance, preferred Las Vegas as their favourite destinations with a group of boys. At 19.4%, Goa got the second highest votes from male travellers. "Young Indian travellers have been experimenting with their travel habits. They go on trips on birthdays, pre-wedding shopping, celebration trips and activity-based trips such as music festivals and budget road trips," said Mohit Gupta, chief business officer (Holidays), MakeMyTrip.

Women travellers, on the contrary, preferred road trips across postcard European destinations for solo girl vacations, it was found. Majority of women travellers (42.5%) for instance, chose Spain as their favourite destination followed by Paris at 15.4%. The travel report added that the popularity for European destinations stems from the fact that these countries have been featured in Bollywood movies recently.

Goa was however, chosen as the most popular destination for mixed group vacations by both men and women. The destination got 30.1% votes followed by Las Vegas and Australia.
