The Malwani police on Tuesday rescued a 15-year-old girl from flesh trade and arrested her mother for forcing the teenager in prostitution.

The police also arrested another woman accomplice, who would keep the girl confined in a room in Malad, from where she would run the prostitution business.

According to sources, the girl managed to tip-off the police about her ordeal after which the cops conducted raids in Malad.

The girl was rescued by the cops on Tuesday and was sent to children's shelter home after undergoing a medical examination.

"The girl's mother had shifted to Pune. She forced her into flesh trade around five years ago. We have arrested her under sections under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act," said Prakash Patil, senior inspector at Malwani police station. The girl's mother would occasionally visit Mumbai to collect money from her accomplice.

The police said that the girl was kept at a house in the slums in Malwani by the accomplice.

"We are investigating the case and are trying to establish contact with the girl's father. Both the women have been remanded to police custody and we are interrogating them," said an investigating officer of the Malwani police.
