With an eye on the 2014 polls, the state government has invited creative consultants and media management agencies to work on creating their positive image in the minds of citizens.
The government, on Monday, sought applications from creative consultants and media management agencies for collaborating with its information and public relations department in executing the blitzkrieg in media — print, digital/electronic and social. They will also help in planning and managing events.
According to sources, after taking over as the chief minister in 2010, Prithviraj Chavan has been struggling to get the department to work professionally. “While states such as Gujarat keep publicising their achievements, we are lagging behind on that front,” said a senior official, on condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
Another official said that the department did not have the expertise for basic functions such as powerpoint presentations and preparing subject-specific speeches for the chief minister.
Pramod Nalawade, director general, information and public relations department, said that it is the first instance when professionals are being hired for the job. “The budget will be decided after selecting the consultant and agencies,” he said.
