Mumbai: Commerce cut-offs rise in minority lists

Merit lists for the minority quota and vocational stream for NM College, Mithibai College and St Andrew’s College were released on Saturday evening. The cut-offs for the commerce vocational stream rose by 3 to 8%, and while general science cut-offs increased by 4% in one college, it dipped in the rest.
Colleges have to release their lists for in-house, minority and management quota seats before the online admission process begins. Some colleges also declared their vocational (bifocal) merit list on Saturday.
At NM College, Vile Parle, cut-offs for accounting and auditing surged from 82.91% last year to 86.73% this year, marketing and sales rose from 77.60% last year to 80.36% and travel and tourism rose from 69% to 77.64%.
The cut-off for commerce through the minority quota also increased from 88.91% last year to 89.64%. The college has quota for Gujarati language speakers.
At Mithibai College, Vile Parle, science (general), commerce and arts cut-offs rose by more than 2 to 4%. The commerce cut-off rose from 84.40% last year to 86%. Science (general) increased from 78.36% to 82.55% this year and arts also rose from 49.60% to 65% this year.
The cut-offs for vocational science at Mithibai also fell. Computer science fell from 94% last year to 91.64% and electronics dipped from 93.45% to 92% this year. The college spokesperson said this year’s first list cut-offs are lower than last year’s cut-offs in the third list.
