Despite the Maharashtra government having scrapped the draft development plan (DP), you can still send in your objections and suggestions till Friday (April 24).
The civic body said it will continue to accept letters from citizens till the deadline.
Citizens had raised doubts whether the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) would still be open to receiving their suggestions, as the chief minister’s statement on Tuesday did not clarify whether the process should be discontinued.
Many Mumbaiites had turned up at the BMC headquarters on Wednesday to make their voice heard.
Municipal commissioner Sitaram Kunte said they were still to take a decision on how the suggestions and objections will be considered and the scope of revisions that would be made – whether the errors will be rectified or fundamental concepts changed.
“An internal meeting will be scheduled with the development plan department and a decision will be taken. I am waiting for an official communication from the state government about revising the plan,” Kunte told HT,
Urban planners and NGOs, meanwhile, requested that citizens check the proposed land use maps and continue to send their opinions to the civic body.
“It important to keep sending suggestions and objections till April 24, so that it can be verified for the next DP. In the next four months, we need to create more awareness about the development plan and also keep track of the proceedings of the new DP,” said Pankaj Joshi, director, Urban Research Design Institute (UDRI).
