The Wada police station (Thane rural), registered a case of gangrape against four persons who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in a field at Kharivali village, Wada taluka on Sunday night.
The police said the accused first assaulted her with bricks, gangraped her and then abandoned her.
The parents of the girl are daily wage labourers who work in a brick kiln in the village, said police.
Investigators said the victim was in a relationship with the main accused’s younger brother. The accused, however, opposed their relationship as she was a minor.
“The boy dropped the girl near her residence around 9pm and left, after which the accused, who were hiding nearby, gagged her, took her to a field and slapped and hit her with bricks. Later, they allegedly gang-raped her and left her unconscious,” said an officer of Wada police station.
The accused visited the girl’s house on Monday afternoon and told her parents that they had abandoned her in the field.
The victim was then shifted to a rural hospital where she was only treated for her facial injuries.
The victim did not tell the police about the sexual assault and only opened up on Wednesday.
Anil Kumbhare, superintendent of police (Thane rural) said, “We have registered a case against the four accused on the basis of the minor’s statement. Only one accused has been identified. All of them are on the run.”
The Wada police have registered a case against the accused under sections 366 (A)(raping a minor girl) and 376 (G) (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
