The services of Central railways' harbour line were affected on Monday evening during peak hours as the strip from the tracks got entangled with the coach of Panvel-bound train at 7.23pm at Sandhurst station.

The services were halted on this line for almost an hour from 7.23pm to 8.10pm.

Though the railways did not confirm the number of trains' cancellations, commuters complained that several trains were cancelled and others were running late by almost an hour. Some commuters complained that there were no trains to Bandra r Andheri for almost an hour at Wadala station.

"There was a huge chaos at every station as no announcement was made about the failure. The trains and the platforms were crowded; trains were almost an hour late and were so crowded that I had to skip three trains in a row," said Sumit Pandey, a Vashi resident.

The metal strip from the tracks got entangled with the Panvel-bound train's coach, causing all the services to halt. "For almost an hour, my train remained stuck near Masjid and I could trains lined up in a row. It took me double the time than regular to reach home. I hope such technical glitches reduce," said Mohit Desai, a Panvel resident.
