A man from Andheri had a close encounter with a leopard while he was out for a morning walk at Aarey Colony, Goregaon (East), on Saturday morning.

Mahesh Gadhve escaped with a few minor bruises.

The incident came to light after area corporator Jitendra Valvi contacted the forest department to report another sighting on Sunday.

According to the staff of Aarey Colony Municipal Hospital in unit no.16, Gadhve came to them around 6.30am with minor injuries on his ankles.

Officials from the forest department suspect that the leopard was a female, which was sighted frequently in unit no. 16, 17 and Adarsh Nagar localities .

The forest department sent a patrol party over the weekend. “People said they had seen a female leopard and her cubs. They have heard them growl in the night,” said Kundalik Burhate, a forest guard, involved in the patrolling.
