A day after the Mumbai police rescued six-year-old Kandivli boy Karnit Shah from his abductors, another three-and-a-half-year-old boy, Sufiyan Khan, who was abducted from Dindoshi on Tuesday for ransom, was rescued in a quick operation from Silvassa on Thursday.

Joint commissioner of police, crime, Himanshu Roy said that the child, Sufiyan, was rescued from a house in Silvassa in the wee hours of Thursday. Silvassa is in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a union territory between Maharashtra and Gujarat.

His abductor, Karim Siddiqui, 19, managed to escape while the mastermind, Salman Sheikh, 26, has been arrested.

According to Roy, Sufiyan went missing from near his grandmother Mumtaz Begum’s residence in Shiv Sahi Prakalp area of Dindoshi around 7 pm on Tuesday when he was playing outside.

Sufiyan’s parents, Anwar, who runs a garage at Sakinaka, mother Salma and two younger siblings live in the same Dindoshi locality. A missing complaint was lodged with the Dindoshi police station and the crime branch was roped in to find the child.
