The JJ Marg police have arrested a 28-year-old sweeper of a municipal school at Null Bazar for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old student for two months.

The accused used to allegedly take the girl to his room after luring her with money and then sexually assault her, a police probe has revealed. The girl was under severe mental stress for two months as the accused had also threatened her into not telling anyone about it.

The accused, a civic employee, has been working as a sweeper at the school for many years.

On Wednesday night, the girl complained of pain in her abdomen, following which her aunt asked her about it. Initially, the girl did not tell her anything, but later narrated her ordeal.

“The girl told the police that after school hours the accused used to take her to the staff room on the school premises and touch her inappropriately. He would then sexually assault her,” said Anil Madvi, senior inspector of the JJ Marg police station. The accused had done this 3 or 4 times, and had threatened the girl into not telling anyone, Madvi said.
