American socialite and hotel heiress, Paris Hilton arrived in the city at 4 am on Saturday to an effusive welcome by the media and fans. The actor, who is being put up at Juhu’s JW Marriott Hotel during her 3-day visit gushed, “My fans have been telling me to visit for a very long time now, but I didn’t expect so many people to turn up to see me.”
Hilton checked into the newly renovated Presidential Suite, where she relaxed during the day. “We’ve maintained a pink theme for the flowers flown in from Thailand and food – including muffins and macaroons. The suite is very techno-savvy with iPods, home theatre systems and automated washrooms,” says Vineet Mishra, director of operations at the hotel.
In the afternoon, Hilton addressed the media about her line of handbags that she’s here to launch, at a press conference that started more than two hours late. Styled by Rocky S, she wore a pink off-shoulder Malini Ramani gown and posed with her designs.
On Saturday night, Hilton hobnobbed with a host of top industrialists, Bollywood personalities and cricketers at a party thrown in her honour by socialite, Queenie Singh. The hotel’s nightclub, Enigma, was decorated with special entrances and soft changes in décor, lighting and sound. The event was fiercely guarded by four layers of security.
Sunday’s itinerary for Hilton includes a visit to two shopping malls in Juhu and Malad, where she will launch her brand and interact with fans respectively. In the night, she will attend a business dinner at the hotel.
Hilton has already shot for an Indian magazine cover, wearing a Swarovski-studded sari, and may shoot one more while she’s in town. Her entourage for the trip includes 17 people – including 7-8 managers and a personal butler. She is expected to leave the city on Tuesday evening.
