A 43-year-old woman fell to her death from a mango tree she climbed at a Bhandup housing society on Friday.

The police said the woman, Parul Makwana, died because she landed on the iron grills of the compound wall. The incident took place around 2pm at CGS colony, said officials of the Kanjurmarg police.

“The woman climbed the tree in her building compound to pick mangoes, slipped and fell on the compound wall. The iron grills on top of the wall went through her body,” said Nishikant Tungare, senior police inspector. “The incident came to light as some locals saw her falling,” he said.

According to Tungare, the fire brigade was called to bring the victim down from the wall. She was taken to a hospital, but declared dead.

A case of accidental death has been registered.
