With the much anticipated meeting between BJP president Nitin Gadkari and party’s sulking deputy leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde didn’t taking place on Sunday too, the suspense of over Munde’s rebellion continued.

Both leaders held separate meetings with party’s Maharashtra state in charge Venkaiah Naidu rather than meeting each other.

While many looked at this as Gadkari’s attempt to avoid a confrontation, a close Gadkari aide gave two reasons for not having one-to-one meeting with Munde; firstly, Gadkari had returned from his Uttarakhand trip only in the evening and secondly, he had authorised Naidu to hear out Munde’s concerns and take a decision accordingly.

This is seen as Gadkari-Munde clash in the party with Munde wanting a dominant role in the Maharashtra BJP affairs and questioning the appointment of a Gadkari loyalist as party’s Pune unit chief.
