As the city continues to grapple with acute water shortage, Maharashtra revenue minister Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh Rane will hold a musical concert to spread the message of “Save water, Save Mumbai”.

The concert, which will be held on May 15 at Andheri, will see performances by singers Shanker Mahadevan, Shreya Ghosal, Hariharan, Kunal Ganjawala and National Award winning music composers Ajay and Atul.

“Through this concert we would create awareness among Mumbaikars to save water, which is becoming an issue of concern,” Nitesh told reporters on Tuesday, adding the concert will highlight the cause of water conservation.

Political bigwigs, including Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, are expected to attend the concert, Nitesh said.

He also plans to carry out a publicity drive prior to the concert at public places requesting people to save water and creating awareness about water conservation.

In March, Nitesh, who heads NGO Swabhimaan Sanghatana, had set up a toll-free number 1800-200-9837 to help citizens to fight the water mafia.
