The Ghatkopar police, who are investigating the murder case of Daksha Daftary who was found dead at her residence on Friday, are recording the statements of building residents and the watchmen to ascertain whether they had seen anyone other than the masseuse entering the senior citizen’s apartment.

The police have also prepared a sketch of the masseuse.

“As of now, Anita Shinde, the masseuse, is the main suspect in the case. We suspect that Shinde might have had an accomplice as one person alone could not have managed the job. We are investigating if any of the neighbours or the building watchmen saw Shinde leave or anyone else enter her apartment,” said an investigating official.

The police said that they are also investigating if Shinde was employed elsewhere, so that they can gather more information about her.

“We only know her name and that she is a Ghatkopar resident. She was not registered with the local police,” said the officer.

Daftary was murdered at her Ghatkopar residence on Friday afternoon and diamond jewellery worth Rs15 lakh was missing from the flat, indicating that robbery might have been the motive behind the murder.
