Not just Bollywood stars even the city’s politicians are keenly following the World Cup football. Some are even flying to South Africa to watch the final between Holland and Spain on Sunday 11.50 pm IST.

Those headed to South Africa include Union Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, his son Sameer, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Vinod Tawde and BJP corporator Ashish Shelar.

"It will be fun to watch the finals live at the stadium," said Tawde.

And which team is he rooting for — Spain or Holland? "I am going there for the love of the game. It doesn't matter which team wins," he added.

But his party colleague Shelar is confidant Spain will lift the Cup. "I am going there to support the octopus," he quipped as Paul, the octopus, has predicted Spain will beat Holland.

Though Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam will not watch his favourite team in action at South Africa, he will be glued to his television set on Sunday night.

"There's no question of me supporting any team because Spain will win. And I say this not because of the octopus' prediction, but because I've been following most of their players' games when they are playing for Barcelona, the European football club."

Some politicians, however, aren't happy with so many of their colleagues flying out of the country to watch the World Cup football final.

"There is much more work to be done before we go and play or even watch others play,"said Colaba corporator Vinod Shekhar.
