Smart form, the new visa application form for the United States, will be available online from January 19. All applicants with visa appointments starting February 1 will need to fill out the smart form (DS-160).
The new online form will club all Non-Immigrant Visa applications in one form. Applicants will continue to complete visa application forms online, as they did previously with the Electronic Visa Application Form.
With the new form, the applicant will be required to upload a visa photograph, and submit the form online.
The applicant will print just one confirmation page and then look for an appropriate interview date.
The web-based form can be revised and improved as required. In addition, applications could be pre-processed and pre-screened before an applicant’s interview, reducing processing delays.
Visa applicants completing their applications starting January 19 will need to use the new form.
The payment and scheduling process for applicants will not change.
Additional information regarding the new form will be available on all Consular post websites from next week.
