Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on Monday decided not to ply buses to Karnataka for next two days after the violence in the neighbouring state over Maharashtra-Karnataka border row.

A bus operated by MSRTC was torched on Monday near Kittur and three buses were stoned earlier in the day, sources said.

The MSRTC has taken the decision to avoid damage to its buses in the light of violence on the border dispute, sources said.

Th MSRTC's bus plying on Mumbai-Hubli route was burnt near Kittur, which is near Belgaum, by some miscreants. Three more buses were damaged in stone-pelting, sources said.

The MSRTC's MD Deepak Kapoor has ordered closure of operations in Karnataka for the next two days. Also, efforts are being made to protect the buses already in Karnataka by parking them at nearest police stations, the sources added.
