High speed winds and dense cloud cover brought only light showers in Mumbai on Wednesday.
According to officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), between 8.30am and 8.30pm, Colaba recorded 1mm, while Santacruz received 6.8mm of rainfall. Officials from the IMD said there will be occasional spells across the city and the suburbs in the next 24 hours. “The systems affecting the heavy rain have moved away and the effect of the depression is dying down. The strength of the southerly to south-westerly winds, too, will decrease,” said VK Rajeev, director, western region, IMD.
The suburbs got 52.8mm, while south Mumbai received 28.2mm between 8.30am on Tuesday and 8.30am on Wednesday.
The city has, since June 1, received 1091.4mm of rain this month.
The temperatures in the city registered a slight rise. Colaba and Santacruz recorded 29.1 degrees Celsius and 29.3 degrees Celsius respectively. The night temperature in south Mumbai was 26 degrees Celsius, while it was 26.4 degrees Celsius in the suburbs.
Weathermen have predicted occasional rain or showers in the city and suburbs, accompanied by strong gusty winds.
