If you are tired of waiting for the much-required electoral photo identity card (EPIC) before October 13, you can go to a franchisee of Itz cash world. The state Collector office has tied up with Itz cash world — a private company that will facilitate quick disbursement of voters ID card.
An applicant can go to an outlet where Itz cash cards are sold, where his photograph will be clicked. The applicant can either request for a new voter ID or correct the mistakes in the existing card. Navin Surya, Managing Director, Itz cash card said, “We are trying to expedite the process of issuing voter ID cards.” Applicants will have to pay just Rs 20 for using this service.
The franchisee will email the information and photograph to the Election Commission who will scrutinise it and if there is any discrepancy then the application will be sent back. “We are not the deciding authority on verifying information provided by an applicant. We just collect the data. The final review is done by the election commission,” added Surya.
The applicant will have to carry photo identification like a PAN card to these centres while applying. There are around 500 outlets across Mumbai and Thane.
Shailesh Punjabi (25), an applicant from Chembur, had received a receipt but failed to get a voter ID card for more than two months. “I went to this franchisee and completed the formalities. After a week, I received the voter’s card,” he said.
