If you wish to investigate the proceedings of any redevelopment project but find it difficult due to the unavailability of City Survey number (CS no.), you can find the information with the mere click of a mouse.
A few Right To Information (RTI) activists have acquired detailed reports of 1,365 redevelopment projects from the Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (Mhada) and the civic building proposal department. The information is uploaded on the website http://tinyurl.com/South-Bby-Redevp-project-CTSno and will be accessible to everyone.
The report comprises the name of the property, the postal address, CS no., file no., name of the developer and the date on the no objection certificate. Currently, the information of projects in south Mumbai and wards from eastern suburbs is available. Soon, information regarding the entire city’s redevelopment projects can be garnered. A discussion towards this took place at a meeting of RTI activists in Andheri.
“We wanted other activists and the general public to have access to the information for further investigation,” said Utsal Karani, an activist from Juhu.
Similarly, Rajesh Paliwal, a resident of Kalyan, acquired details of 200 redevelopment projects in L, M (east), M (west), S, T and N wards from the civic body’s eastern suburbs building proposal department. “I have applied for similar information in all the eight zonal BMC offices,” he said.
