Now, water cut extends to central Mumbai

Even as parts of south Mumbai are reeling under water cuts due to repair work on Maroshi-Ruparel tunnel, parts of Mumbai Central, Byculla and Prabhadevi also will not get water on Saturday because of repair work to plug leaks in Tansa main.

According to the civic hydraulic department officials, due to leakage of 1,450-mm Tansa west/east water mains below Paththe Bapurao bridge near Diana talkies, the repair work will begin from 8pm on Friday.

So there will be no water supply to MP Mills compound, Mumbai Central area in D ward, Nair Hospital, Kasturba Hospital, Mumbai Central railway station in E ward and Senapati Bapat Marg, Ganpatrao Kadam Marg, Sayani Road, Prabhadevi, Janata Colony, Fitwala Road, Elphinstone Road, BDD chawl on Desiesle Road in G/South ward on Saturday (May 21).

Meanwhile, Swabhimaan, an outfit headed by revenue minister Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh, protested against the water tankers plying in south Mumbai and Dadar.

With the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation imposing a four-day water cut, tanker owners had hiked their cost.
