US President Barack Obama praised the founder of NGO Sammaan Foundation, Irfan Alam, for his endeavour of creating jobs for unskilled people of Bihar by manufacturing rickshaws as a means of livelihood and sustenance for them.

“You are doing a tougher job than me by creating jobs for the unskilled people of your state and other parts of the country,” Irfan said, quoting Obama’s encouraging words.

Alam, who was part of a group of industrialists who had met Obama, said he had briefed the US President about his endeavour to help rickshaw pullers in leading a dignified life by way of maximising income, besides undertaking welfare measures for them.

Alam was among a select list of entrepreneurs who were invited to attend the young entrepreneurs’ summit at the White House earlier this year.
