The Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena on Friday demanded that a team of specialists including a cardiologist and Ayurvedic doctors to treat Malegaon blast accused, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.

The sadhvi, who is in Nashik Central Jail, has been suffering from ill health. Her health had deteriorated in the last few weeks with reports of her having suffered a heart attack.

“We would like the government to set up a panel of doctors including a cardiologist and a Ayurvedic doctor who can look into her health,” Sena Member of Legislative Council, Neelam Gorhe, said.

The state was non-committal and said that doctors’ reports had specified that the sadhvi had not suffered a heart attack. “The government has no problems in treating and spending money on Ajmal Kasab [26/11 accused] while the sadhvi is being neglected,” BJP legislator, Vinod Tawde, said.
