Over 150 resident doctors at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital in Mumbai struck work early on Monday to protest manhandling by relatives of some patients, hospital sources said.
"Doctors have been on strike since 3 a.m. after some patients' relatives got into a fight with them," he said.
A meeting is likely to be held later Monday between the doctors and the management of the hospital in south-central Mumbai.
"The decision on whether to resume work or to continue the strike will be taken during the meeting," the source said.
The hospital is one of the main municipal hospitals in the city that treats a large number of patients.
