A small group of parents of students of Vibgyor High, Goregaon, have come together to support the cause of Adishree Gopalkrishnan, 13, a Class 9 student of who was expelled from school on June 2.

Some parents have started an online blog (www.vibgyorfact.blogspot.com) in support of Adhishree along with a 'Justice for Adhishree Committee.'

The blog gives information about Adishree's mother's fight against the school fee hike as well as a chronological record of the events that occurred after Adhishree expulsion.

"There was a lot of misinformation that the school was spreading through messages (SMSes) about Adhishree and her mother, Avisha, and so we felt the need to share the truth," said Sanjeeta Prasad, convenor of the Committee.

Another group of parents have written a letter to Principal Shim Mathew, requesting him to take a "more amicable approach to Adishree's situation and not deny her, her basic right to education and choice of school."

"A few fellow parents and I felt that it was fair to write to the principal as we cannot think of Adhishree not getting her admission back," said a parent, who signed the letter but requested anonymity.

Adishree was expelled from school on June 2, a day before the new academic session began. The reason cited for her expulsion by the school was that Adishree's mother, Avisha Kulkarni, had filed a "false and unwarranted" police complaint against the school management in July 2009 alleging that she feared that the school would physically harm her and her daughter.
