Sharif Parkar alias Dadabhai, 86, who has been sentenced to lifetime imprisonment, has missed the deadline. He was hospitalised after he complained of chest pain.

Parkar’s advocate Farhana Shah filed an application before the special court informing it about Parkar’s health problems.

On Wednesday afternoon, Parkar was taken to a hospital after he complained of chest pain and breathlessness. He was first admitted to a hospital in Mahad.

However, he was later shifted to a hospital in Mumbai after his condition worsened.

The CBI special public prosecutor, Deepak Salve, told the court that according to the order of the Supreme Court and the jail manual and law, Parkar should be taken into custody first, adding that he can continue his treatment, if required and, advised by the doctors.

The court will hear the application on Friday and accordingly pass the order. Parkar was convicted for being part of the 1993 blasts conspiracy and helped in RDX landing at Shekhadi Coast in Raigad on February 3 and 9, 1993.
